Driving Directions

Although the public records say the house was built in 1900, the CT Preservation Trust 'circuit rider' said that the house dates back to the early 1800's. Locals say the house was the second or third house built in Gaylordsville, and Gaylordsville was established in 1725. Contact the Gaylordsville Historical Society for more information. The 'remediation' of the mold in 2012 was only for 2 rooms (living room by fireplace, and big room upstairs). Within two years, the mold came back, and even worse than before, making the house uninhabitable. In mid February 2016 with the -20 weather, the pipes burst and water was everywhere. The insurance company would not help. Three burst pipes were found, and there are probably more. Because there was no help from the insurance company, no work was done, other than to connect the water to the studio (above the garage). In extreme cold in January 2018, there was no water to the studio, even though the water pump was working, and this would lead to the most likely conclusion that the well broke. It is unknown as to the extent of the damage to the well. Studio over garage has full bath - Water not worked due to well

The 'remediation' was only in 2 rooms - the main living room with the fireplace and the big room upstairs. Insurance company refused to provide coverage for the basement, which of course, is where the furnace is located, so all of that mold got spewed up into the house. Which is one of the reasons that the house reverted to even worse than it was before. Another issue was that in Feb. 2011 when we had huge snow and ice, the gutter outside was 3 feet wide with ice (up 2 stories), and on one of those warm Feb. days, it broke off from the house. I called insurance company but they refused to help me. Water started coming in and no roof contractor could find any leaks. That wall was redone with the remediation of 2011/2012, also had a new roof put on at that time.
