Drive north on Connecticut’s scenic Route 7 along the meandering banks of the Housatonic River and you will arrive in beautiful Cornwall. Known as “Home of the Covered Bridge,” Cornwall is home to one of only three surviving covered bridges in Connecticut, built as early as 1762. This charming Connecticut town is approximately 95 miles north of New York City and situated on the east bank of the river. It is nestled in one of the northwest corner’s most mountainous areas and contains a major portion of the Mohawk State Forest. The principal communities of Cornwall include Cornwall Bridge, West Cornwall, and Cornwall Center. The area offers a plethora of outdoor activities from skiing and hiking at Mohawk Mountain to fly fishing, canoeing, and river rafting on the Housatonic. This peaceful and serene town offers many sightseeing opportunities, beautiful sweeping landscapes, a General Store, and plenty of historic charm.
